San Emigdio, like its neighbor Brush Mountain, is in a lovely forested area that overlooks the Mount Pinos area peaks to the south. Route 1 starts from Mil Potrero Highway, up an old road to the ridge connecting the two peaks. Route 2 starts from Marion Campground where Route 1 to Brush begins and traverses the ridge for a gentler hike.
